RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CAPITAL ORIENTATIONS AND LEARNERS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Abstract

In the educational context, the need to understand the dynamics of social and educational institutions ' interactions by exploring the impact of instructional learning on various social and cultural encounters. The research explored the interplay of the role of social and cultural wealth, verbal development and family history. The systematic method of correlation analysis was used. In addition, 377 undergraduate students from chosen universities in India followed two study methods, the SCCQ and the Otis-Lennon Scholastic Ability (OLSAT), which used the Social and Cultural Capital Questionnaire (SCCQ). The study findings revealed that respondents display a high degree of inclination towards social and cultural capital with the highest factor in literacy. The respondents do have an average academic performance. A differential check found that respondents whose parents display high academic performance, social cohesion, cultural maturity and extraversion, emotional solidity and extraversion, had strong educational outcomes. Similarly, father's education is the single variable which indicates a difference in the cognitive capacity of the student affecting students whose father has high academic qualifications. The interaction test found that language and cultural abilities are related to the academic skills of students. Eventually, family income is a indicator of students ' high cognitive abilities and their attitude towards social and cultural wealth. The ramifications of the findings were discussed and recommendations for future studies were made.
