Mathematical Model for Commemoration of Death in Javanese Tradition
Abstract
In Javanese tradition, someone who has died will be commemorated or celebrated the day of his death. The commemoration of death is 1, 3, 7, 40, 100, 354, 708 and 1000. The purpose of this study was to determine the date of death anniversary on the Gregorian calendar by making a mathematical model. The first model was built using modulo concept in Number Theory. The second model is built with the concept of modulo in Javanese Mathematics. This study produces two different but similar conclusions related to the use of the two models.
