PEDAGOGICAL INTERVENTIONS ON SUMMARIZING DIFFICULTIES IN EFFECTIVE ACADEMIC WRITING
Abstract
In order to improve Effective Academic Writing, the students require a good grasp of the source material in terms of understanding, anlayzing, synthesizing the information and selecting information, drafting and revising the content of the material. Thus the usage of summerizing plays a key role in the Academic Writing. There have been several investigations made in L2 students and their difficulties in summarizing; the present paper focuses on the cognitive aspects of the critical activities from the students’ point of view. The examination is made on 60 undergraduate engineering students from a private UGC approved institution in India, it is recorded qualitatively resolute their identified difficulties when summarizing the skills. There are four major drawbacks are identified in the examination. They are;
