Increasing of thermal efficiency on household stoves through greenhouse effect principle
Abstract
Energy-saving stoves in the market are widely used by rural mothers in Indonesia with low efficiency. Stove efficiency can occur maximally if no heat is wasted in the air, conduction and convection. Modification by giving glass is expected not to continue long waves and only short waves. The function of glass in this study is to produce long waves above 3 or 4 µm and short waves are waves below 2 µm. The use of the greenhouse principle in household stove was experimented to test whether there was an increase in the efficiency of the stove. The results of this research are stoves that are modified by applying the greenhouse effect have greater efficiency than the usual stove. The increase in efficiency of household stoves after modification by applying the greenhouse effect principle is 16.68%.
