Time Estimation of Passive Layer Degradation in Reinforced Concrete Exposed to Chloride Solution

Abstract

Reinforced corrosion is one of major problems that affect the durability of concrete structures. The coupled reactive-transport model was used to evaluate the concrete durability. The numerical results gave very satisfactory results with regard to the experimental data to which they were compared at two different temperatures. However, it remains to deepen the model for the lowest concentrations: the results show, in fact, an underestimation of the concentration values of chloride ions. The effect of temperature has been highlighted numerically and shows that it there is a competition between a faster propagation of the ions at high temperature and a dissolution all the more difficult as the temperature increases. The first degradation of passive layer of reinforced concrete is estimated.
