Abstract

The Cloud is an increasingly growing technology that provides scalable and flexible computing resources to its users. Its popularity stems from its ability to store, process, manage and retrieve data from anywhere at any time. Despite its merits, problems lie in data security and privacy, which can prove to be a setback for this technology. Security concerns of Cloud data include its protection from theft, loss and manipulation by brute force and dictionary attacks. Addressing these concerns, existing encryption algorithms implemented to protect data are reviewed. The Jumbling Salting Algorithm and its applications in encrypting files, images and payment gateways is discussed. The contribution of this paper to is a scheme to implement the Jumbling Salting Encryption Algorithm to protect the data stored on the Cloud.
