Abstract

The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) transfers are widely used nowadays, from bill payment to local merchants to online shopping sites. With the increasing use of payment applications, people need to remember the various UPI IDs linked to the account. Different payment apps use their UPI to identify their customers and therefore it needs to be unique. The existing ways of payment through UPI are manually typing the UPI ID in the box or scanning the QR code which is linked to the merchants UPI ID. The idea proposes a different way of detecting the UPI ID/ VPA (Virtual Payment Address) other than the conventional ways like Writing the UPI ID / VPA or Scanning the QR Code which has UPI ID / VPA data embedded in it. The idea is to use Facial Recognition Interface to detect the face and the data of UPI ID / VPA linked with that face. Users can scan the face of the payment receiver and can fetch the UPI ID / VPA linked with the face. This can be very useful for the shop owners who accept payments using UPI. The problem with the existing ways of detection is that not many can remember the UPI ID and also the QR Code provided gets scratched so the data cannot be fetched while scanning it. It can be used as an immediate alternate for the detection methods until the QR Code or UPI ID is provided. Several times it happens that the QR codes sent by the company takes time to reach the vendors and during that period, the face of the vendor can be used to fetch the UPI ID for payment. It is going to make the process easy and convenient to complete the transactions. India being on the rise of the digital era will be generating more payment gateways and it will lead to the generation of many different IDs for the same person and more operational and fast way of online transaction.
