Energy Monitoring Using IOT

Abstract

Effective and efficient functionality of the electrical network can be achieved through continuous monitoring and control of electrical parameters like voltage, current, active power and energy that are measured, captured and transmitted through the usage of multifunction meters (MFM) installed in distribution network. Analysis of these measured data helps in eradicating adverse effects such as blackout and outages. One can continuously monitor the data for the effective utility of electrical energy. This paper discusses the process of data extraction and analysis form multifunction meter through a RS 485 communication channel and a raspberry pi controller. The validity of proposed method is verified using real time load monitoring and analysis.
