Abstract

Wireless sensor network (WSN) are robust and self-organizing network. The WSNs contain large number of sensor nodes that are deployed in many places according to the need of applications. These networks are highly resource constrained with limited power, bandwidth, processing capabilities, storage, and computational capabilities.  Routing of data from source to destination plays a vital role in this network. Routing in WSNs are classified as Flat routing and Hierarchical Routing. Clustering is a technique used in hierarchical routing which improves the network scalability and life time. To maintain scalability and network life, energy of the node is considered to be necessary parameter. Energy of node is enhanced by selecting efficient node as the cluster head. The objective of this paper is to analyze various cluster head selection mechanism used in energy efficient clustering algorithm in WSN.
