Survey – Application of A* Algorithm in Dynamic Ambulance Routing Problem and other Strategies & Methods

Abstract

A* algorithm is a heuristic based algorithm which is widely used in Pathfinding and Graph Traversal. It has achieved better performance using heuristics which guides the Search. It has given better optimistic results in practical travel routing systems. It uses the best first Search Strategy and was originally designed as the general graph traversal algorithm. Later it was widely used in Gaming applications, problem of parsing using stochastic grammars in NLP, in Traffic Navigational system and in information searching with online learning. By looking into the strength of A* it is the most appropriate method of Routing problems. In this paper, we have discussed the application of A* algorithm in Ambulance routing problem and other methods and strategies.
