A Web Based Adaptive Assessment Platform: Assess App

Abstract

Assessment is an important component in the teaching-learning process. The assessment gives feedback to both the stakeholders - student and teacher. The students recognize their level of understanding in a particular subject and teachers become cognizant of the style of teaching to be applied to the group of students.  For this purpose, an adaptive assessment system, which gives most accurate grading of the knowledge acquired, is necessary to be adapted by the academics. This paper describes thedesigning anddevelopment of a web-based application - AssessApp, which performs adaptive analysis for self-evaluation and helps the end user test their level of knowledge in various fields. The assessment helps the student to explore weak learning areas and thus improves the overall performance at the end.
