Data Acquisition using CAN Communication Protocol for Static and Dynamic Conditions for Automotive Application

Abstract

This research article discusses the need to develop data acquisition using can communication protocol for static and dynamic conditions of a formula racing vehicle automotive technologies that include design, development, manufacturing, and verification of a low-cost data acquisition platform that will be employed in vehicle dynamic data acquisition of < 200 Hz. The design of a simple, robust, modular and easy to use data acquisition system, which will identify various automotive applications, prototyping and development, is proposed in this article.  The study evaluates the vehicle efficiency, reliability, and management, the advanced system can offline collect, view, store and access information. Controller Area Network (CAN) is being used to simplify and replace cable devices in automotive network controllers. The systems hassle-free expansion leaves open the door for further development.  A CAN bus system using myRIO and STM32 MINI M4 works.  The system also allows accessing internal ECU parameters of the vehicle.  The results indicate that it is acceptable to connect more than two devices in the system.  The number of channels can be adjusted in the system design based upon the number of parameters and sensors. The study concludes that these techniques are relevant to the automobile sector with a data acquisition system with higher performance and reduced costs.
