Abstract

The heterocyclic compounds are building blocks of many natural molecules and imidazole derivatives act as a precursor for the synthesis of these heterocyclic compounds. In the study our aim is to synthesis imidazole azo derivatives by coupling imidazole with various anilines and investigate their biological activities. Seven imidazole azo derivatives were synthesized and characterized using UV-Spectral absorbance, FTIR and NMR. The antimicrobial and antioxidant activities were analyzed. All the compounds had shown antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsialla pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Aspergillus favus and antioxidant activity. Among, P,T-IM followed by P,Cl-IM are found to be more effective compounds. Further evaluation of their mode of action and use as a base to generate therapeutic drugs would be beneficial in biomedical applications.
