Abstract

Over past few decades several techniques have been presented for image filtering such as mean filter, median filter, gausian filter etc. but the edge preserving, power consumption and operating frequency are the challenging issues in this field hence to overcome these issues, this paper presented improved median filtering technique, this median filtering technique is based on moving window architecture. This architecture improves the time performance so as to have an improvement over the operating frequency. The proposed approach is simulated using Xilinx tool on spartan 3 environment. The performance is measured in terms of PSNR, operating frequency and resource utilization. The comparative performance shows that proposed approach outperforms when compared with existing techniques because of effective resource utilization of the proposed architecture.
