Abstract

Teachers usually administer tests to determine whether learning goals have been achieved. Furthermore, they assess students to know whether they have made progress in terms of the understanding of content taught in class. This study aimed to investigate pre-service teachers' perceptions of summative assessment. The study involved 110 pre-service teachers at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Closed questionnaires were used to gather information required to achieve the objectives of the study. The results show that most teachers had a positive perception of summative assessment. The majority of the respondents believed that summative assessment should largely be applied to monitor the progress of students.
