Crop Insurance : Study From Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Rice Farmer Business Insurance Program (AUTP), which is a food crop insurance, as well as its challenges and solutions. This research took place in Ponowaren Village, Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency. Thispaper is a qualitative study with the NaturalistiqIncuiry approach. The data is generated by interview, observation, and literature study. Primary data were generated through in-depth interviews and passive observation. This research employs an interactive model to analyze the data.Source triangulation and reference are utilized to validate the data. This paper relies on Talcott Parson's thoughts. The results show that the role of the insurance program was quite good, as seen from the number of registered participants. There were 146 registered farmers in 2016,170 registered farmers in 2017, while in 2018, there were no registered farmers, and in 2019 there were 106 registered farmersFarmerswho join the program would receive protection from the government with compensation when agricultural problems occurred. The inhibiting factor of AUTP is the lack of socialization from the government. The recommendation to make the program can run optimally is to conduct socialization to farmers.
