Abstract

This study focuses on rural Women empowerment Tamil nadu, women is very essential for a nation. The freedom of life of a woman brings enlightening not only the family but also the entire nation. In the modern era, the women are achieving great level in all the fields. Empowerment is the expansion is assets and control of poor people, to participate in negotiates with influence, control and hold accountable institution that affect their lives. Since poverty is multidimensional poor people need a range of assets and capabilities at the individual level and collective level. Empowerment is being emphasized through women development programmes have been evolved to empower rural women since six plans among the programmes Mahaliar thittam brought out SGHs as a channel to women empowerment. Empowerment can be achieved through economic interdependence can be obtain through SGHs. How far SGHs are functioning and how doesit bring empowerment is focal theme of this study.In the modern era, the women are achieving great level in all the fields. They do business, caring family, business, science and technology. In this context, socio economic background of the sample respondents comparing economics status of sample respondents, before and after membership assessing perception of respondents on decision –making power of rural women one also being formulated and tested  statistical tools. Since social, cultural ,political and economic conditions vary and institution are context specific reform strategies, Women empowerment, experiences shows that certain elements are almost always present when empowerment effort are succeed.
