FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT, ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN JORDAN: NEW EVIDENCE FROM TIME SERIES ANALYSIS

Abstract

This study identifies the relationship between financial development, energy consumption and economic growth in Jordan. Time series data for (1985-2018) period and autoregressive distributed lag model is used. The result of this paper confirmed that, there is a long run and short run relationship between financial development, energy consumption and economic growth. This is indicating that an increasing in energy consumption and economic growth will lead to increase the financial development in the long run and short run. The Jordanian policy makers have to concentrate their efforts to enhance the economic and financial indicators this is because a strong economic and financial development will lead to encourage the investors to invest and support the productive projects that will ultimately lead to economic growth
