Conflict Prone Location Mapping in Sorong city, West Papua

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mapping of conflict-prone locations in the city of Sorong. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the mapping of conflict-prone locations in the Sorong City, based on Police data, showed the Sorong City Sub-district area was a conflict-prone location with a total of 2018 up to now as many as 28 cases, followed by West Sorong District, and East Sorong ranked third. The factors causing the conflict consisted of 4 factors, namely the lack of resolution of individual conflicts, lack of communication and coordination between community leaders, religion, customs, and the police, the lack of patrol and supervision activities by the police, especially in conflict-prone areas, and the lack of organizing activities social activities involving all community groups. The solutions to prevent and overcome social conflicts in the Sorong City area consist of 4 solutions, namely by increasing patrols by the police, especially in conflict-prone locations, increasing the police personnel in charge of the guard posts that have been provided, improving kinship relations both related government agencies, and the police with various community leaders, customs and religion, and organizes activities involving all community groups to improve harmony among fellow community groups.
