Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate scientific reasoning through scientific observations and astronomy practices in students, pre-service physics teachers and teachers. The main data are sourced from the results of the questionnaire, observation and interviews collected in this scientific reasoning inquiry activity. The total research subjects were 45 respondents consisting of 15 senior high school students, 25 pre-service physics teachers and 5 teachers. The method of this research was carried out by the quasi-experimental method, students and pre-service physics teacher were given the treatment of scientific observations and astronomy practice using binoculars, the teacher was given treatment in the form of assisting observation of celestial bodies and astronomy calculations. The findings of this study indicate adequate scientific reasoning in students, pre-services physics teacher and physics teachers after getting the treatment of observation activities and astronomy practices. The results of observing the skills of students and pre-services physics teacher in observing the sun using binoculars is quite good. The results of the teacher and student questionnaire showed an excellent response to take part in scientific observations and astronomy practices. The results of the interview showed information that the concept of astronomy was very interesting and sparked curiosity for students and pre-services physics teacher.
