Auto penalty statement on e-challan for violating traffic protocols using alpr cameras

Abstract

The main objective of this application is to provide an automatic penalty statement for violating traffic protocols on e-challan using ALPR cameras. This application mainly focuses on motorists not wearing helmets, jumping the signals, over speeding vehicles and causing accidents. The application uses ALPR cameras for identifying the motorists violating the protocols by their vehicle number. This application also identifies motorists with or without a helmet. Then the information about the vehicle and owner is gained by the coordination of the RTO department. Details of the violator are received, and an SMS is sent to the registered phone number. The SMS contains information like offense committed, date, time, and location of the offense. And a penalty statement is registered in the records on the violist. As ALPR stores data such as license plate numbers and time stamps, it also stores data of the penalty statement. The violator can pay the penalty using e-challan.
