Abstract

This paper present the development and validation process of a SWB scale for assessing subjective
well-being. The Aim of the development of SWB scale is to measure Subjective Well-being of Adolescent
learners. Sample of 100 student were selected for the standardization of this scale. The SWB scale is
prepared with the three component of SWB as- Life Satisfaction, Positive Affects and Negative Affects.
Reliability was determined by Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient which was found in component one 0.897,
component two 0.886, component three 0.884 . Based on corrected item- total correlation, 14 item were
excluded. Result of factor analysis (Principal Component Analysis with Varimax Rotation) that four
sub component were formed in Component-1, five sub component were formed in Component-2, four
sub component were formed in Component-3 and total 55 item with 0.930 Cronbach’s alpha value
remained in the original scale. This Subjective well-being scale has good reliability index and construct
validity. It could be a useful tool to measure Subjective Well-being of Adolescents.
