Abstract

In today’s competitive world, national and world ranking of the Universities is considered to be a significant factor. These ranking plays a major role in attracting high quality students in the Universities and many times the Public funding of the university also depends in its raking.  The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a yearly evaluation based methodology adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. It is very difficult for the university to predict the rank based on evaluation parameters specified by the NIRF. Here we propose a model to predict the NIRF Score Range for the University. The analysis will help to find the areas of improvement to better the ranking of the university. For the prediction of NIRF Score Range Data Analytics tools and Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) technique of Predictive Data Mining with Artificial Neural Network Classifier is applied. This analysis can also further extended for other rating and rating methodologies. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time ANN is used for the prediction of university ranking.
