The purpose of this study is to optimize the Indonesian food distribution chain, increase the welfare of farmers, and increase food production, which can ultimately achieve food self-sufficiency, which is the subject of the application of the Pantera concept. The analytical method used in writing this scientific paper is Library Research. Pantera is a concept that is a systemic effort to realize food self-sufficiency while maintaining community welfare based on values and the principle of justice. Important findings from the subject of optimizing the food distribution chain show that distributors are one of the causes of high food prices when in the hands of consumers. The length of the distribution chain colored by the distributors is the main cause of the high selling prices of consumers. Cutting the length of the distribution chain can be applied with the presence of the Pantera, which expected to increase in margins received by farmers which can indirectly increase farmer productivity, ultimately, and food self-sufficiency.
