Abstract

Present day’s weight optimization is very efficient tool for obtain maximum efficiency, some of failure modes of I – section beam is bending failure by yielding, bending failure by lateral torsion buckling, bending failure by local buckling, shear failure and vibration. The corrugated web beams have less local buckling when compare with general I section beams having same cross-sectional area. Strength of the beam can be increased by using different shapes of corrugation for that beam too optimize the material of web and is useful for many construction applications. So, it is better to use corrugated web beams. There are various kinds of corrugated web beams as Rectangle, Trapezoidal, Triangle and sinusoidal corrugated shapes. The objective of the present project will be determination of best type of corrugated trapezoidal section with best angle of inclination by analyzing them for local deformation using ANSYS software.
