Abstract

Switched or Variable Reluctance Motor (SRM) is a desirable substitute of broadly used synchronous and induction motors, due to its low-cost simple design, reliable operation, greater performance at high range speeds. The SRM pre-requisites a converter due to the double-salient formation for furnishing the independent control functions. The conventional Asymmetric converter is used to driving the SRM, but it is unsuitable because of high switch stress due to carrying input rated voltage, more loss, low efficiency, etc.
