FUZZY LOGIC CONTROL FOR VSGs IN MICROGRID WITH DIFFERENT CAPACITIES OF DGs

Abstract

Earlier days power generation by the conventional sources only and now a days the power generation along with the conventional sources, renewable sources also used to meet the load demand. By using conventional energy sources majorly synchronous generators are used to generate AC voltage and integrating to the grid but the power generation by the renewable sources the inverter technology is introduced in the distributed energy resources (DER) to get the ac voltage and formation of Microgrid. These inverters are static in nature and these are having low inertia and damping coefficients compared to the synchronous generators. So any disturbance occurs the synchronous generator are maintain stability up to certain limit but the inverters are unable to maintain the stability like synchronous generators due to its low inertia, so that the new approach the virtual synchronous generator technology introduces in the power system to overcome the problems due to low inertia and inverter behave like synchronous generator and improve the system stability. In this paper the design , control and implementation of VSG by using basic droop control, PI controller and fuzzy logic controllers are analyzed with the help of MATLAB/SIMULINK software environment.
