Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) is an outstanding computer science technology which can create an artificial environment and when a user interacts with this, the user suspends his beliefs and receives it as the real situation. It can raise the standards of various fields such as entertainment, healthcare and medicine, research, defense etc. Virtual reality has made developments in the field of entertainment, but the world of health care waits for the development. In the present world millions of elderly people in worldwide are affected with mild cognitive impairment that leads to Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Currently, with at least five million Indians living with these diseases. The expectancy of the individuals suffering with this disease could get double in the next couple of decades. The technology need to be development for the prevention and cure of these diseases. The major goal of the paper is to give a comprehensive version of VR systems from base to state-of-art applications with unfolded phases in cognitive impairment models, components to develop a training activity for elderly affected people like Alzheimer’s.
