Abstract

In this research, effect of Hexanol was used as oxygenated fuel additive in diesel. The blends were prepared in different proportions like 5%, 10% and 15% of Hexyl alcohol in diesel by Volume. The experiment was performed in four stroke single cylinder diesel engine to investigate the performance and emission characteristics under steady state condition. It was noticed that the optimum performance of engine achieved at 10% blend. Further increment in Hexyl alcohol proportion, decreases the energy density of fuel and performance also. Best emission results were achieved at 15% blend as fuel possess maximum oxygen content. NOx emission was found to be maximum at 15% blend.
