Does School Leadership Predict Professional Learning Community Practices?
Abstract
Teachers professional development is important in improving the quality of education. The Professional Learning Community (PLC) is one of strategies implemented by the Ministry of Education in enhancing the quality of teachers. This study investigated the level of PLC practices among teachers in High Performance School (SBT). This study also looked into the relationship between the transformational leadership of principals with the PLC practices of teachers as well as identified the dominant predictor of transformational leadership dimension towards PLC practices. This study involved 364 teachers teaching in SBT schools around Malaysia. Data were collected using descriptive analysis through SPSS V.25 while SEM-PLS was used for the inferential analysis. The results showed that the level of PLC practices of SBT teachers are very high and there was a significant relationship between the transformational leadership of principals with the PLC practices of teachers. The inferential analysis revealed that idealized influence is the best predictor for the professional learning community practices at high performance school.
