Abstract

In this paper, an economical method to convert alternating voltage to direct voltage by using full wave rectifier was presented. However, the output signal of the rectifier has unwanted ripples. In many cases, the ripple must be below the specified level. This paper aims to control ripple using a filter circuit which consists of capacitor or inductor or both to minimize ripple. A mathematical equation for calculating the value of a capacitor or a filter inductance can be determined when used separately, but when the capacitor or the inductance are used together, there is no mathematical equation  for calculating their values to control the number of ripples. In this paper, the circuit was simulated by the ATP program to verify the work of the circuit in all three states. The comparison of the both results indicates that the calculated and stimulated results are approximately identical.Analysis the results indicates that the combined capacitor-inductor filter design methodology is the best to control the ripples at a given level.
