An Analysis of Tribological Properties of Hybrid Polymer Composite Using Coir and Bagasse
Abstract
The evolution of composite material has replaced most of the conventional material used for automobile, aviation, etc. Natural fibre reinforced polymer composite has great advantage due to its low cost lower environmental impact and high strength. Natural fibers play a very imperative role in the development of bio-degradable composites to fix the current environmental problems. In this work, epoxy resin reinforced with bagasse fibre and coconut coir polymer matrix composite were prepared by varying the fibre percentage using compression moulding technique. The fibers were randomly oriented. The prepared composite were tested for its water absorption and wear behaviour. The minimum wear rate occurred at 15 percentage of coconut coir fiber and 10 percentage of bagasse fiber. The minimum water absorption occurred at 5 percentage of coconut coir fiber and 5 percentage of bagasse fiber.
