Abstract

KomalaA numerical solution to the problem of transient laminar free convective transfer of heat and mass in a viscoelastic fluid past a vertical cone in a non-Darcian media of porous nature in presence of thermal radiation is presented in this paper. Medial creams and the other rheological liquids employed in chemical engineering and biotechnology are simulated using Walters-B liquid model. Supplementary terms are brought into the momentum conservation equation by this kind of rheological models. Implicit finite difference method of Crank-Nicolson type is used to solve the governing equations which are dimensionless. The article is conceived with the idea of studying the velocity, concentration and temperature fields for changes in various parameters like radiation, viscoelasticity, Schmidt number, Prandtl number, Darcy number, Grashof number, buoyancy ratio parameter etc. Further study is conducted on local skin friction, Nusset number, Sherwood number which are of general interest. A comparison with the previously published literature validates the obtained numerical results and is found to be in good alignment.
