North-East India and Srimanta Sankaradeva

Abstract

Before going to write on medieval North- East India and Srimanta Sankaradeva , I feel it necessary to give a short account of demographic patterns of this area. Various tribes and communities migrating from different parts began settle in this part from time immemorial. From anthropological account of view this part was the inhabitant of various nationalities. They were mainly Austric, Negrito, Mongoloid, Kokesia, Alpine and Aryans.1In course of time in 15th-16th century A.D. the chief communities like Austric, Mongoloid and Aryans were found by the resident of this area. Since, geographically, the North-Eastern part was easy passages from all sides for migration, therefore various tribes and communities had begun to settle here. Around this time Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva was born in this region in 1449 A.D.
