Abstract

Goods trading is not a new phenomena. People used the barter system to satisfy their wants for various goods in the last few centuries, if we look back far enough. Trade has gone through several stages of transformation. Initially, gold, silver, and valuable stones were used as payment for items. Then, with the advent of currency, people began to buy products and services with money. As a result, trade patterns have undergone significant changes over time. People used to travel to retail stores to buy clothes and other items a few decades ago, but now there are a variety of exclusive outlets, shopping malls, and virtual stores where they may shop for fashion and other goods.

Malls in India have converted shopping from a necessity to a kind of leisure time amusement. In 2007, and 2008, the quality mall space, which was only one million square feet in 2002, reached new heights of 40 million square feet and 60 million square feet, respectively. There has been a paradigm shift in the mall scene; in 2001, India had only three malls. By 2007, the number had risen to 343. In May 2013, India had 570 malls open for business. According to Asipac Consulting of Bangalore, the number of malls in 2013 has doubled from 2008.

On the other hand, with an eye on E commerce and virtual shopping, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) was created in 1960 to allow businesses to conduct electronic transactions. Although the concept of e commerce did not reach the average Internet user until the 1990s, some major companies had been using EDI since 1960. The railroad sector was one of the first to see the value of EDI and implement it. Other transportation industry players followed suit.

It was 1979, and Aldrich and his wife were strolling through a store. Suddenly, he had an epiphany that changed everything for E Commerce. Aldrich used this technology to connect a household TV and a computer to telephone lines in order to begin selling food online. It's a different tale entirely how they dealt with various scenarios. But, in the end, they developed a plan that enabled them to launch their virtual retail firm.
