Smart Pavement : Energy Harvesting Tile

Abstract

The proposed project is a flooring tile that harvest energy and collects data for every step taken on it. The tile will convert kinetic energy to electricity by using piezoelectric and electromagnetic induction principle. The aim of the project is to contribute to the vision of a smart city concept by reducing non-renewable energy consumption in urban cities with the generation of clean renewable energy from human kinetic energy and provides the city with data that is collected with every step taken. The project includes an Internet of Things (IOT) platform in order to analyze data for more useful application and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to make it interactive for users.
