AN RFID BASED ATTENDANCE SYSTEM: A TWO-TIRE VERIFICATION

Abstract

Student attendance is an important aspect to be recorded in every education institution. Conventionally, attendance records are paper-based, which brings about several difficulties, including issues with safekeeping over long periods, time wastage amidst composing and marking, forged signatures, and unsigned attendances. Hence, there is a need to develop a better method for recording attendance. One of the most prominent solutions is by employing the Internet of Things (IoT). This study developed a prototype using RFID and fingerprint. The two-factor attendance system removes the forgery of the attendance. Also, the SMS system introduced with SIM900 helps to monitor the student by parents, which will be increased the attendance rate. When the prototype is developed as a complete system, education system will be getting higher throughput.
