CHANGE IN HIGHER EDUCATION SINCE INDEPENDENCE

Abstract

After independence, the higher education system in India has evolved remarkably, to become
one of the largest systems of its kind in the world. We are now living in an increasingly
diverse, globalised and complex culture which is filled with the media. Nevertheless, the
framework is currently concerned with many problems, such as funding and management,
appropriate facilities, technology and science, access and equity, safeguarding national
academic standards, ethical importance, enhancing and improving the quality of higher
education, as well as evaluating and accrediting institutions.
