Abstract

Nowadays, technology has managed to invade the lives of individuals in all its fields. Tracking systems play important roles in tracking moving objects in various fields to avoid many problems that may occur. The use of technology in education has become one of the most widespread and beneficial things, especially when incorporated in tracking students' presence in educational institutions. In some cases, students escape from educational institutions during school hours. Therefore, a system which can track their entrance and leave is needed. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology used to provide sufficient and continuous information about industrial products or the identity of people. This paper aims to develop an RFID-based system to track student presence in educational institutions. The design of the proposed system involves building the database and RFID interface. The RFID hardware is then connected to the database to register the present events in real-time. An android based application is developed and connected with the database that recorded the entrance and leaving events of students. Through this system, parents can easily inquire about their children's entry and leave times from the educational institution. It also reduces the burden on educational institutions to reply to the queries from families about the presence of their kids during school hours.
