Abstract

Over the past five years economic recession hits Indian Economy very dreadfully, which directly or indirectly affects the Road safety annual budget. This current study deals with the effect and influence of lowering down the road safety budget over road Safety parameters. Deterministic data of past five years was collected from various police stations and finance department which includes the annual road safety budget, number of fatalities per year, number of accidents per year and annual road and transportation budget. All this data was then analyzed using MINITAB a statistical package and the outcomes of the results obtained from the statistical analysis were then taken into consideration. It was observed that with the increasing recession in economy, the government of various countries was continuously decreasing their road and infrastructure budget due to which the rapid increase in the rate of accidents and fatalities was experienced. This study was mainly carried out to check the statistical relationship of the road and safety budget with respect to road accidents and fatalities due to it.  The results of the statistical analysis showed a strong relationship between the risk index and the budget. The results of the previous researcher showed that the road safety budget was inversely proportional to the road accidents and fatalities due to it, but the final results of this present research work showed that the reduction in both road safety budget as well as the number of accidents and fatalities can be reduced simultaneously. This study also focuses to derive the deterministic comparison between economic and accident data relationship between annual budget and safety indexes. With the use of this present study the most effective nature of budget allocation for road safety parameters can easily be achieved. This study can be used not only as an appliance of the practiced system for traffic safety, but also independently. It was concluded that the initial decrease in road conservation budget does not lead to actual saving of money as the increase in number of accidents and fatalities due to it are a great area of concern. Also concerning the situation for the same in future, the expenditure over its maintenance and rehabilitation will increase the whole budget to a greater extent.
