A Comparative Analysis of Print Quality with Water Based Ink and UV Ink Using Mirror Coated Substrate in Flexographic Printing Process
Abstract
Mirror coated paper is commonly used substrate for label printing, food packages and other consumer goods. This substrate is printed by both water based ink and UV ink with Flexographic Printing Press available in WONDER PAC, Sonipat, Haryana keeping in target to check printing characteristics i.e. Solid Ink Density, Dot Gain and Print Contrast. A master consisting of quality control patches was prepared, printed and evaluated for above mentioned print characteristics with the help of spectrophotometer. The results indicated that samples printed by UV ink have more Solid Ink Density and Dot Gain than Water based ink. On the other hand, samples printed by Water based ink have more Print Contrast than UV ink.
