Abstract

Structural reinforced concrete floor system is one of the significant system and is effective to transfer gravity and lateral loads to vertical supports. There are many types of floors rom which the present study has modelling of frame with flat slab and grid slab. The aesthetic and economic advantage make most architects and clients favor flat slabs as it reduces time for design & delivery, cost of construction and improves quality of construction. However, it can be suitable only for small spans due to large deflections and punching shear where it needs more slab thickness. The need for longer spans, thus heavier loads necessitate the increased slab thickness for deflection limit. Here, grid slab is an excellent option, has larger span in a building with minimum number of columns, exhibit more stiffness, less deflection. These slabs are often preferred where there is requirement of column free space over a large area. The present study aims to compare seismic parameters like storey drift, storey shear, and storey displacement from the results by using ETABS.
