Preparation and Compatibility Study of Telmisartan Inclusion Complex with Natural Bioenhancer
Abstract
Preparation and Compatibility Study of Telmisartan Inclusion Complex with Natural Bioenhancer.
Telmisartan-luteolin complexes of 1:1 molar ratio were prepared by placing 1g of telmisartan and
2.21g of luteolin in a mortar and mixed thoroughly by trituration. Then complexes obtained were
sieved by using sieve no#100. Similarly, complexes with Quercetin and luteolin in ratio of 1:2 and 1:3
molar ratios were also prepared. Telmisartan-luteolin complexes of 1:1 molar ratio were prepared by
transferring 2.21g of luteolin in a mortar and wetted with a few drops of ethanol/water mixture
(15/85, V/V). 1g of Telmisartan was added slowly and kneaded with addition of few drops of
ethanol/water mixture. Finally the wetted mass was dried at room temperature and sieved by using
sieve no#100. Similarly, complexes of Quercetin and luteolin 1:2 and 1:3 molar ratios were also
prepared. Telmisartan-luteolin complexes of 1:1 molar ratio were obtained by dissolving 1g of
telmisartan and 2.21g of luteolin in ethanol/water mixture (1:1) to get a clear solution. Then solvent
was evaporated on a water bath. Finally product was dried and sieved by using sieve no#100. The
inclusion complex was also characterized by various parameters. The dissolution rate was found to be
influenced by the method employed and the ratio used to prepare the inclusion complexes. The
telmisartan complexes formulated with kneading technique and having 1:3 (telmisartan: quercetin)
ratio showed highest dissolution rate among the other formulations.
