Analysing the Meaning of Words in Semantics

Abstract

The term semantics was invented in 19th century. However philosophers had used the meaning
thousands of years ago. It acts as a bridge between linguistics and philosophy. We can approach the
problem of meaning in different ways. The meaning of words in a language is interrelated.
Componential analysis of meaning can be a useful approach in the study of meaning.
