Abstract

The objective of this experimental investigation is to propose a recovery solution of a bulky waste as granulate in the manufacture of concrete. This study is mainly based on the valorization of tire waste by its application on the formulation of ordinary concrete in order to confine the abandoned waste and to study its effect on the physical and mechanical properties of concrete. The incorporation of tire waste in the form of granulate is by partial substitution of gravel at different percentages 10, 20, 40, 60 and 80%. Workability measured by slump was performed to assess the fresh properties of the concrete. Bulk density, compressive strength and flexural strength of the concrete were determined for the hardened properties. The obtained results show that the density in the hardened state decrease until 1895kg/m³ for an 80% waste substitution reflecting a lightweight structural concrete with  compressive strength of 16MPa.
