E-Voting Using Ethereum Smart Contract: A Case of Indonesia

Abstract

Indonesia is a country of over 200 million people and tens of thousands of islands. The general election is a challenge for Indonesia as it has to collect all the data from different locations due to the many obstacles and scams. Falsifying KTPs to hold elections as one of the electoral prerequisites and ballot papers that do not match the general population. Blockchain technology is very developed today and was originally only used as a method of cryptocurrency, but has now changed into many forms. Decentralized data storage is one of the advantages of blockchain, so data is not easy to hack and a high level of security is also the main attraction. With the development of this technology, blockchain is not only used for cryptocurrency. Now it is being developed in the form of a smart contract that can be used to eliminate third party relationships. Blockchain is one of the technologies that can be used to reduce problems in elections in Indonesia. This paper provides an explanation of the implementation of blockchain, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of blockchain when implementing it in elections in Indonesia.
