Abstract

Stepped Frequency Continuous Wave (SFCW) Radar has a wide applications in landmine detection, buried objects detection, Non Destructive Testing of Concrete Blocks etc. All these application would require Ultra Wide Band (UWB) or Multi-frequency operation. The SFCW Radar Transmitter has to be designed for constant output power; Receiver has to be designed for a good dynamic range, minimum detectable signal, the output IF power has to be constant throughout the operating range. Simulation of low cost Transmit – Receive (T-R) module is simulated for frequency range 1-6 GHz. The results of simulation shows that the constant Transmitter  output power for frequency range of 1-6GHz, Noise Floor is -90dBm and dynamic range is 70-80 dBc. Transmitter chain has gain of 9-10 dB and P1dB of 17-21 dBm. Similarly, receiver chain has gain of 19-20 dB, noise figure of 3.1-3.6 dB and Dynamic range of 76.95dBc.
