Design and Development of Battery Operated Potter’s Wheel with Variable Speed
Abstract
The potter’s wheel is the highly sustainable machine in the pottery industry for forming of earthen wares by throwing process. At present pottery machine or potter’s wheel is either manual operated or depends on the electricity. The electric potter’s wheel is used in the rural areas as an alternative to Hand or kicks potter’s wheel, but due to non-supply of continuous electricity in rural area, pottery industries facing various problems. The new design introduces a conceptual model to overcome problems in pottery industries. The new developed potter’s wheel operates on variable speed through DC power supply. The machine is ergonomically design by taking input parameter from artisans and it’s tested by artisans by preparing different earthen pots on machine. It rotate by using DC motor with regulator to maintain the speed of potter’s wheel as per required to the making of earthen wares for different shapes and size by throwing process
