Abstract

This study aims to analyse the contribution of income from various income sources, the allocation of income and the minimum land requirements in meeting the needs of decent living in farmer households in rainfed areas. The used research approach is the descriptive method, and the location of the study is determined using a purposive method. This study determined 122 total samples of farmer households by using simple random sampling method. The analysis consists of the calculation of the needs of a decent living and the minimum land requirements. Results show that the large contribution of farmer’s household income comes from nonrice farming, namely, from palawija and cattle farms, which accounted for 46.57%. The allocation of food consumption expenditure is greater than that of the nonfood one. The needs of decent living are <1, thereby showing that the farmer households cannot meet the needs of decent living. The minimum area of land that farmers must own to meet the needs of a decent life is 0.455 ha.
