Abstract

This article discusses the inter-turn short circuit in the rotor and stator windings of multi-phase asynchronous motors. Monitoring the conditions of electrical machine can significantly reduce maintenance costs, allowing timely detection of failures, the repair of which can be costly. The method used is the so-called motor current signature analysis (MCSA), a frequently cited and investigated diagnostic method. The motor current signature analysis is used to extract the B-phase current and Y-phase current. These two currents are used as input features for the multi layer perceptron neural network to classify the fault in the multi-phase induction machine. The effectiveness of the proposed method for detecting inter-turn malfunctions of the stator and rotor windings during operation of multi-phase induction machines are discussed.
